The Intrusion Transceiver Module (ITM) (2) is part of the optional, premium version of the Vehicle Theft Alarm (VTA) in the Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS). The ITM is secured within a mounting tray (1) by a single snap feature (4). The mounting tray is secured to the headliner substrate by hot melt adhesive near the center of the vehicle interior above the second row seating dome lamp opening of the headliner. Connector receptacles (3) integral to the ITM housing contain terminal pins that connect the ITM to the transducers through a jumper wire harness and to the vehicle electrical system through the overhead wire harness.

Concealed within the center of the ITM housing is the electronic circuitry of the module. The ITM housing is sealed to enclose and protect the internal components of the module including a microcontroller, antitilt sensors and electronic communication circuitry. The ITM communicates over the Controller Area Network (CAN) - Interior High Speed (IHS) data bus with other electronic modules in the vehicle and over a dedicated serial bus circuit with the alarm siren module.

The ITM cannot be adjusted or repaired. If ineffective or damaged, the entire ITM must be replaced.
