Module, Telematics Gateway (TGM): Operation
The Security Gateway (SGW) Module is the Controller Area Network (CAN) gateway between the radio and the other vehicle CAN modules. An SGW module failure could prevent the radio from powering up. For additional information on the SGW module,
Refer to MODULE, SECURITY GATEWAY (SGW), DESCRIPTION .
The Telematics Gateway (TGW) Module is responsible for the displayed information on the Integrated Center Stack (ICS) Screen Module over the CAN-AT bus.
The user input from the ICS Screen Module sends the information over the CAN-AT to the TGW, the TGW then sends the command out to the CAN-I bus to the requested module. The requested module then makes the changes requested by the users input and sends a message back to the TGW, the TGW then send the message over the CAN-AT to the ICS to reflect the users input selection has been activated and or changed.
The TGW is responsible for the following:
- Displaying information on the ICS Screen Module
- Passing user input to the correct module on the CAN bus
- Turning the specific areas (buttons) on the screen usable for user interaction
- CD/DVD operations
- SD card operations (Mid level only)
If the screen displays Shipping Mode . Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
The Security Gateway Module (SGW) is in the audio system to provide security against certain types of attacks and threats from the scan tool and entertainment buses, which can put the rest of the vehicle's buses at risk of intrusion. The SGW lies electrically between the vehicle on one side, and the Data Link Connector (DLC) and entertainment system on the other side. The main function is to gate messages from one bus to another as the rules allow. The SGW monitors the B(+) Feed, switched ignition feed, CAN circuits, software and hardware for any concerns.
