Module, Keyless Ignition Node (Kin): Operation
The major components of the KeylessGo® are:
- Radio Frequency Hub (RFH)
- Low Frequency (LF) Antennas
- FOBIK
- Special Door Handles
- Special Liftgate Handle
The Passive Entry (PE) works when the FOBIK is located outside the vehicle using the LF antennas. Keyless go operates when the FOBIK is located the inside the vehicle. Please refer to the owner's manual for more information on authentication zones.
Once authentication is successfully completed, the RFH requests the Body Control Module (BCM) to unlock the door(s). Once the door(s) are unlocked, the owner is then free to continue pulling the door handle to enter the vehicle. This process of opening the door without actively using a FOBIK or KEY is called.
There are four modes to the KIN they are:
- OFF
- ACCESSORY
- ON
- START/STOP
The first press of the KIN enables the ACCESSORY power to be initialized. The second press will set the status to RUN and enables ignition on power, The third press will switch the power OFF . To START the vehicle the BRAKE pedal must be pressed and the KIN button PRESSED at the same time.
After putting the vehicle into park, pushing the KIN's Start/Stop Button allows the vehicle's engine to be shut off. In an emergency, pressing the Start/Stop Button continuously for 2 seconds or repeatedly (one hit every 30-500msec) shuts off the engine.
