Shifter, Transmission: Installation

NOTE:

Before installing the shifter assembly, verify that the wire harness below the temperature control unit is not in the path of the shifter's slider. If contact is possible the slider may distort or fracture.

Install the shifter assembly in the vehicle.
NOTE:
Make sure the locking retainer (1) on the gearshift cable is fully engaged after the gearshift cable is installed to the shifter housing.

Connect the cable (1) to the shifter lever.

Position the shifter assembly in place, install the shifter assembly bolts (1) and tighten to 16 N.m (12 ft. lbs.).
Re-connect the electrical connection.

Install the trinket tray (1).

Install the shifter bezel (1).

Connect the shifter bezel trim wire harness connector (2), if so equipped.

Install the shifter bezel trim (1).

Snap the snap fastener (1a).
Connect the negative battery cable.
Verify shifter operation and adjust cable as necessary. Refer to CABLE, SHIFT, ADJUSTMENTS .
