Cable, Shift: Removal

Remove the battery tray. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, REMOVAL .
Disconnect the gear shift cable (1) from the manual control lever.
NOTE:
Inspect the retention clip for cracks, wear or damage, replace as necessary.
Disconnect the gear shift cable from the bracket (2) by holding the tabs (3) and squeezing together, walk the gear shift cable out of the bracket.
Remove the gear shifter assembly. Refer to SHIFTER, TRANSMISSION, REMOVAL .

Unseat the gear shift cable grommet (1) then push through the floor.
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

Remove the gear shift cable (2) from the retaining clip (1).
Reposition the heat shield to allow for the removal of the gear shift cable.
Remove the gear shift cable from the vehicle.
