Charging (Service Information): Generator: Removal: 1.4L

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

  2. Loosen the top A/C compressor retaining bolt (1).

  3. Remove the upper generator retaining bolt.
  4. Remove or reposition the accessory drive belt.
  5. Remove the right side axle half shaft. Refer to REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the right side axle half shaft bearing support.

  7. Remove the AC line support retaining bolt (1). This will allow the A/C line to be repositioned when removing the generator from the engine compartment.

  8. Remove the lower A/C compressor retaining bolts (1).
  9. Disconnect the generator harness connections.

  10. Remove both lower generator retaining bolts.
  11. Turn the generator as needed to pull the generator past the A/C compressor and lower side A/C line in order to remove it from the vehicle.
