Removal And Installation: Removal
WARNING:
When an undeployed airbag module is to be removed from the vehicle, first disconnect the battery ground cable and isolate it. Allow the system capacitor to discharge for a minimum of two minutes before starting any removal.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the left side floor air outlet. Refer to OUTLET, AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the steering column control module. Refer to MODULE, STEERING COLUMN CONTROL (SCCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
.
- Disengage the electrical harness connector (1) from the steering column, and disconnect the electrical harness connector.
- Remove and DISCARD the intermediate shaft to steering column pinch bolt (2).
- Remove the four steering column to dash support mounting nuts (3a).
- Disconnect the intermediate shaft and remove the steering column from the vehicle.
- Mark the mounting location for the intermediate shaft to the steering column shaft using the specific clip (1).
