Removal And Installation: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove both front wheelhouse splash shields. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the front belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  5. Disconnect the wire harness connectors (1) for the electric power steering (EPS) drive motor.

  6. Disconnect the wire harness connector for the steering angle sensor (1) on rack.
  7. Remove the mounting bolts (2a) and remove the EPS drive motor (2b) from the steering gear.
