Coil, Ignition: Installation
- Using compressed air, blow out any dirt or contaminants from around the top of spark plug.
- The ignition coil seal (1) can be reused if not damaged.
- Check the condition of the ignition coil rubber boot (2). To aid in ignition coil installation, apply a silicone based grease such as Mopar® Dielectric Grease # J8126688 into the spark plug end of the rubber boot (3).
- Position the ignition coil (3) into the cylinder head cover opening. Using a twisting action, push the ignition coil onto the spark plug.
- Install the ignition coil mounting bolt (2) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs).
- Connect and lock the electrical connector (3) to the ignition coil (1).
- Connect the vent hose (3) to the cylinder head cover.
- Install the air cleaner body (1). Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable and tighten nut to 5 Nm (45 lbf-in).
