Removal And Installation: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the battery tray. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the front tires. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the both front wheelhouse splash shields. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Remove the front belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Remove the engine belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Remove the left side turbocharger to heat exchanger connecting sleeve. Refer to COOLER AND HOSES, CHARGE AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  8. Remove the mounting bolt (1a) securing the return rigid pipe (1b) for the engine coolant from the radiator.

  9. Remove the lower steering shaft (1b) pinch bolt (1a) to the steering middle shaft (1c).
  10. Remove the lower steering shaft (1b) pinch bolt (2a) and disconnect it from the steering gear box pinion (2b).

  11. Working on both sides, remove the mounting bolts (1a) and remove the front additional half wheel arches mounts (1b).

  12. Disconnect the electrical harness connections (1) at the electrical control unit.

  13. Working on both sides, remove the split pins (1a), and remove the tie rod end mounting nuts (1b) at the steering knuckle.

  14. Working on both sides, using a suitable extractor (1a), disconnect the outer tie rod ends (1b) from the steering knuckle (1c).

  15. Remove the steering gear to cradle mounting bolts (1a).
  16. Remove the steering gear (1b) from the vehicle.
