Removal And Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the steering column. Refer to COLUMN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  3. Remove the mounting nuts (1a) securing the intermediate shaft plate (1b) to the front bulkhead.
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  5. Remove and DISCARD  the intermediate shaft pinch bolt (1a) at the universal joint (1b) and disconnect the shaft (1c).

  6. Lower the vehicle and from inside remove the upper intermediate shaft through the opening in the front bulkhead.
