Engine Rpm Sensor

REMOVAL 

NOTE:

If replacing the engine rpm sensor, connect the diagnosis equipment, enter in "actuators" and preform the self-learning procedure.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to CONVERTER, CATALYTIC, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  4. Disconnect the electrical connection (1) for the engine rpm sensor.
  5. Release the wiring from the retaining clips (2).

  6. Undo the screw (1a) and the nut (1b) and remove the heat shield (1c).

    NOTE:

    Keep the sensor away from magnetic fields.

  7. Undo the bolt (1a) and remove the engine rpm sensor (1b).

INSTALLATION 

  1. Place the engine rpm sensor in its housing and tighten the screw to the proper Specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Refit the heat shield back in its housing and tighten the screw and nut.
  3. Attach the wiring to the retaining clip.
  4. Connect the electrical connection for the engine rpm sensor.
  5. Install the catalytic converter. Refer to CONVERTER, CATALYTIC, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Connect the negative battery terminal.
  7. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
