Water Pump

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, CENTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , BELLY PAN, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , BELLY PAN, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , BELLY PAN, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , BELLY PAN, SIDE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , BELLY PAN, TRANSMISSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the right and left rear half of the wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Drain the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  6. Remove the timing belt. Refer to BELT, TIMING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  7. Remove the timing belt guard bolt (1a) and guard (1b).

  8. Remove the water pump screws (1a) and the nut (1b).
  9. Use a suitable tool, cut the sealant around the water pump and remove the pump (2).

    10. NOTE:

    Make sure that sealant does not enter the internal water pump area.

  10. With a suitable tool (1) remove the sealant residues from the engine.

INSTALLATION 

  1. If necessary, use a suitable tool to remove the sealant residues from the water pump.

  2. Apply a strip of silicone sealant to the contact surfaces between the water pump and the engine block.

  3. Position the water pump (1a) and install the screws (1b) and the nut (1c). Tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS GAS ENGINE  .
  4. Install the timing belt guard and bolt in its housing, Securely tighten the bolt.
  5. Install the timing belt. Refer to BELT, TIMING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Fill the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  7. Install the right and left rear half of the wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Install the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, CENTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , BELLY PAN, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , BELLY PAN, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , BELLY PAN, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , BELLY PAN, SIDE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , BELLY PAN, TRANSMISSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  9. Remove support and lower the vehicle.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
