Unit, Electric Vehicle Control (EVCU): Description: Description

The electric vehicle control unit (EVCU) is the supervisory controller for the battery electric vehicle (BEV) propulsion system. The EVCU assembly includes a cast aluminum housing, stamped aluminum cover, two 96 pin connector header shrouds and a circuit board assembly. The cover is attached to the housing using crimped tabs and sealed with adhesive to form the EVCU assembly. The EVCU is mounted by three screws to the EVCU bracket located in LH side of the underhood compartment. The bracket is mounted to the vehicle body using two bolts. EVCU fasteners are unique in that they have a special electrically conductive coating to aid EMC performance.

The EVCU is a stand alone module with full diagnostic capability to aid the dealer technician in trouble shooting and repairing the vehicle. Replacement EVCUs are supplied by Mopar® as generic modules and must be flashed at the dealership with the appropriate application software part number.
