Radiator, Engine Cooling: Installation: Installation

  1. Install the radiator cooling fan onto the lower mounting clips on the radiator.
  2. Install the upper radiator cooling fan bolts (1). Tighten the radiator fan retaining screws to 8 N.m (70 in. lbs.).

  3. Position the cooling module into the upper radiator supports.
  4. Install the lower radiator bracket (2) screws (3). Tighten the radiator screws to 8 N.m (70 in. lbs.).

  5. Install the A/C condenser. Tighten the condenser retaining screws (2) to 8 N.m (70 in. lbs.). Refer to CONDENSER, A/C, INSTALLATION .
  6. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  7. Install the upper (4) and lower (3) seals.
  8. Install the front bumper support beam (1). Tighten the bolts to 40 N.m (30 ft. lbs.).
  9. Raise and support the vehicle.
  10. ABARTH ONLY: 

    Install the intercooler tubes.

  11. ABARTH ONLY: 

    Install the two bolts that secure the intercooler tubes to the lower core support. Tighten to 9 N.m (80 in.lbs.).

  12. ABARTH ONLY: 

    Connect the right intercooler quick connect (1). There should be an audible "click" when the fitting and the hose are fully seated. Pull the hose away from the tube to be sure the connection is secure.

  13. Connect the left intercooler quick connect (1). There should be an audible "click" when the fitting and the hose are fully seated. Pull the hose away from the tube to be sure the connection is secure.

  14. ABARTH ONLY: 

    Connect the turbocharger outlet hose (2) at the lower quick connect located behind the cooling fan (3). Pull the hose away from the tube to be sure the connection is secure.

  15. Install the lower radiator hose.
  16. Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, INSTALLATION .
  17. Lower vehicle.

  18. Install the upper radiator hose
  19. Install the wire harness connectors (3) to the cooling fan.

    CAUTION:

    The FIAT engines use a OAT coolant. OAT coolant CAN NOT be mixed with and other kinds of coolant. Heavy corrosion or damage may occur to the cooling system or engine, unless the proper coolant has been used.

  20. Fill the cooling system with OAT  coolant. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  21. Install the engine cover and air intake assembly.

  22. ABARTH ONLY: 

    Install the engine cover and the air intake assembly (1).

  23. ABARTH ONLY:  Connect the fresh air intake hose (2).
  24. ABARTH ONLY:  Connect the two vacuum fittings (4), loosen the clamp (3) at the air to turbocharger inlet tube.
  25. Connect the negative battery cable.
