Sensor, Camshaft Position: Installation: Installation

  1. The camshaft position (CMP) sensor O-ring (1) can be reused if not damaged.
  2. Apply a small amount of engine oil to the sensor O-ring (1).

  3. Install the camshaft (CMP) sensor (1) with mounting bolt (2). Tighten the mounting bolt to 9 N.m (80 in. lbs.).

  4. Connect and lock the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector (1).

  5. Install the oil separator housing (4) to the cylinder head cover with three bolts (2) tightened to 13 N.m (115 in. lbs.).
  6. Connect the vent hose (3) to the oil filler neck.
  7. Connect the PCV hose (1) to the intake manifold.

  8. Install the air cleaner body (6). Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION - [EAB] .

  9. Install the negative battery cable and tighten nut to 5 N.m (45 in. lbs.).
  10. Install the engine cover (1).
NOTE:

The Cam/Crank Variation Relearn procedure must be performed using the scan tool anytime there has been a repair/replacement made to a powertrain system, for example: flywheel, valvetrain, camshaft and/or crankshaft sensors or components. Refer to appropriate Electrical Diagnostics article.
