Strut, Suspension, Assembly: Installation: Installation
NOTE:
The internal hex of the strut rod must be held stationary while tightening the mounting nut on the strut. Failure to do so will cause internal damage to the strut.
- Raise the strut assembly (3) into the strut tower, aligning the stud on the strut assembly upper mount with the hole in strut tower. Install the rebound plate (2) and a NEW mounting nut (1) on the stud. While holding the inner hex of the strut rod stationary, tighten the nut to 45 N.m (33 ft. lbs.).
- Install a NEW
strut cap (1) on the top of the strut mounting location (2).
NOTE:
Before tightening the bolts, press the knuckle toward the vehicle to achieve the most negative camber. If this is not done, it is possible to have positive camber which will negatively impact vehicle handling.
- Position the lower end of the strut assembly in line with the upper end of the knuckle (3), aligning the mounting holes. Install the two attaching bolts (4) from the front side of the vehicle and install the nuts (2).
- Press the knuckle inward towards the vehicle, and tighten the nuts to 75 N.m (55 ft. lbs.).
- Attach the stabilizer bar link to the strut. Install and tighten the nut (1) while holding the stabilizer bar link stud stationary. Tighten the nut to 50 N.m (37 ft. lbs.).
- Secure the wheel speed sensor (2) to the strut.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Lower the vehicle.
