Test NS-4B: Repairing High Fuel Pressure
WARNING:
High fuel pressure may be present in fuel lines. Open fuel system with caution. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
- If vehicle is a Breeze, Cirrus, Neon, Sebring Convertible or Stratus, go to next step. If vehicle is an Avenger, Sebring Coupe or Talon, go to step 3) .
- Turn ignition off. Release fuel pressure. Remove fuel filter. Inspect fuel return line for restriction between fuel filter and fuel pump module. If a restriction is present, replace restricted fuel line. Perform TEST VER-1A . If a restriction is not present, inspect fuel filter for restriction. If fuel filter is restricted, replace fuel filter. Perform TEST VER-1A . If fuel filter is not restricted, replace in-tank fuel pressure regulator. Perform TEST VER-1A .
- Turn ignition off. Release fuel pressure. Remove fuel pressure regulator. Inspect fuel return line for restriction between fuel filter and fuel pump module. If a restriction is present, repair fuel return line from fuel pressure regulator to fuel tank. Perform TEST VER-1A . If a restriction is not present, replace fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter. Perform TEST VER-1A .
