Steering Wheel Turning Force
- With vehicle stopped on a flat, paved surface, turn steering wheel to straight-ahead position. Start engine and temporarily adjust idle speed to 900-1100 RPM.
- Attach spring scale to outer rim of steering wheel and measure force necessary to turn from straight-ahead position to left and right. Turn steering wheel less than 1 1/2 turns from straight-ahead position. Steering effort should be 7.6 lbs. (3.4 kg) or less, with 1.3 lbs. (6.0 kg) or less allowable fluctuation.
