Tie Rod Swing

Using a spring balance, measure tie rod swing during 10 hard swings. Tie rod swing resistance should be 1.8-6.2 lbs. (0.8-2.8 kg). If swing resistance is more than specified, replace tie rod assembly. If swing resistance is less than specified, but tie rod swings smoothly without excessive play, tie rod is okay.
