Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Does Not Operate

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Chrysler Sebring. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ensure Body Control Module (BCM) is ACTIVE ON THE BUS. Go to SYMPTOM ID TEST 1A.
  2. Using scan tool, select READ DTCs and look for NO POWER TO MODULE trouble code. If NO POWER TO MODULE trouble code is present, see appropriate VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS article.
  3. Check RKE transmitter battery voltage. If battery voltage is less than 3 volts, replace battery.
  4. Substitute a known good RKE transmitter from another JA body vehicle. Using scan tool, select PROGRAM RKE and reprogram RKE transmitter according to scan tool instructions. If RKE system still does not operate, replace BCM.
NOTE: If vehicle is equipped with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE), there will be a RKE antenna terminal at back of BCM. Antenna connector will have a single White wire terminal above instrument panel 10-pin connector.
