WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Plymouth Breeze, 1996 Dodge Stratus, and 1996 Chrysler Cirrus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 4A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION section in this article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn headlight on low beam. Ensure headlight low beam is operating properly. Turn fog lights on. If headlights and fog lights are not operating properly, repair lights as necessary. If headlights and fog lights are operating properly, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect instrument cluster. Ensure connectors are clean and not damaged. See Figure in INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 7. Remove and inspect fog light indicator light bulb. If bulb is okay, go to next step. If bulb is defective, replace fog light indicator light bulb.
  3. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on instrument cluster Blue 13-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Light Blue/Orange wire). Turn ignition and fog lights on. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair Light Blue/Orange wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair or replace instrument cluster.
