Exterior Light Test 1A - Identifying Exterior Lighting System Problems

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Plymouth Breeze, 1996 Dodge Stratus, and 1996 Chrysler Cirrus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Perform SYMPTOM ID TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION section in this article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.

Exterior lighting system uses a headlight time delay function. Identify problems(s) listed in EXTERIOR LIGHT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY table and perform indicated test(s).

NOTE: Headlight time delay will only operate when ignition switch is turned off, while headlights are still on and headlight switch is turned to OFF position within 45 seconds of ignition switch being turned off. Body Control Module (BCM) will provide a 90-second time delay before turning headlights off.
