Control Unit

The ECM is located under center of dash, behind center console. See Fig 1 . AWD and 2WD models each have their own specific ECM. ECM receives input voltage signals from a variety of input devices. ECM compares each voltage input signal to a preset parameter which is programmed into ECM. ECM instantly analyzes each input voltage signal and adjusts output voltage signals accordingly. This allows for lower emissions while maintaining fuel economy and driveability.

NOTE: Components are grouped into 2 categories. The first category covers INPUT DEVICES, which control or produce voltage signals monitored by the ECM. The second category covers OUTPUT SIGNALS  , which are components controlled by the ECM.
