RKE System Test

  1. When trouble shooting problems with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE), ensure power door lock system is operating properly. If doors do not lock/unlock with power switches check lock/unlock switches, Body Control Module (BCM), lock/unlock relay and lock/unlock motors. See DOOR LOCKS - POWER article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section.
  2. Check Power Distribution Center (PDC) fuse "A" (20 amp) and fuse "G" (20 amp). Check junction block fuse No. 13 (10 amp) and fuse No. 14 (5 amp). When checking fuses, ensure battery voltage is present at both fuse terminals. If battery voltage is present at only one terminal, replace defective fuse. If battery voltage is not present at either terminal, check suspect circuit for an open or short. Check ground connection at air bag control module bracket.
NOTE: Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module may be accessed by carefully prying each end of dashboard top cover, then lifting rear edge of top cover and sliding cover forward to disengage front clips. RKE module is located under right side of dash cover. See Figure .
