Steering System - Electronic Variable: Testing: Notes
NOTE:
If steering system is operating incorrectly, problem may be caused by defective vehicle speed signal from TCM. Steering operation can be checked using DRB and performing SPD PROP STEER test. Before performing SPD PROP STEER test, ensure gearshift is in Park, apply brakes and start engine. The SPD PROP STEER test will cause speedometer to display 60 MPH and required steering effort will increase. Note effort required to turn steering during test with brakes applied. Release brake and note that steering effort should decrease. Steering effort should be noticeably different. Repeat procedure to ensure correct steering effort. If steering operation is not correct, perform SYSTEM TEST.
