Test Dr-12A - Testing Fuel Pump Sense (Code 42)
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at end of article.
- Using DRB-II, erase faults. Start engine, and let it idle for more than one minute. Read faults. If Code 42 is not displayed again, go to step 3). If Code 42 is displayed again, backprobe Electronic Control Unit (ECU) 10-pin connector between terminal No. 109 (Black/White wire) and ground. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace ECU. Perform TEST VER-2.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Black/White wire between ECU connector terminal No. 109 and fuel injection control relay terminal No. 1. Perform TEST VER-2.
- Wiggle wire harness between fuel injection control relay and ECU. If Code 42 is displayed, repair wiring harness causing Code 42 to set. Perform TEST VER-2. If Code 42 is not set, perform TEST DR-14A.
