Apply light coat of multipurpose grease on both bearing spacer-to-steering shaft surfaces before installing shaft. See Figure.
  2. Install upper column tube to lower column tube. Install tube clamp so edge of clamp is positioned .73-.81" (18.5-20.5 mm) from bottom edge of upper column tube. See Fig 1. Properly position end of steering shaft in reference to clevis pin.

  3. Loosely install new steering lock cylinder housing and new steering lock bracket using new shear head bolts. DO NOT  tighten new shear head bolts until housing and bracket align with boss area on steering column.
  4. Using ignition key, ensure steering lock properly locks steering shaft. When steering lock operates correctly, tighten shear head bolts until heads twist off.
  5. Install cover assembly onto intermediate shaft. Fill inside of cover assembly bearing with multipurpose grease. Install bearings on intermediate shaft. Wrap tape around bearing outer diameter (concave surface) about 1 1/2 times. Press bearing into cover assembly. Lightly apply multipurpose grease on intermediate shaft-to-cover assembly contact areas.
