Test C: Headlights Do Not Retract

  1. Test the pop-up switch. Use illustrations to assist in testing pop-up switch. See Figure and Figure .
  2. If pop-up switch tests good, test passing control relay.
  3. Remove the left side lower kick panel. See Fig 2 .
  4. Lower the headlights.
  5. Remove the sub-fusible link No. 4. See Fig 1 .
  6. Remove the boot on the rear area of the pop-up motor, and turn the manual knob of the pop-up motor approximately 10 turns clockwise. See Fig 2 .

  7. NOTE: The same procedure is applicable for the left and right sides.
  8. Keeping the passing control relay mounted on the body side, operate the pop-up switch to check the voltage of each terminal.
  9. Move the pop-up switch from the OFF position to the ON position. Terminal 3 should read 12V and terminal 1 should show to have a 12V output for approximately 5 seconds.
  10. Move the pop-up switch from the ON position to the OFF position, terminal 5 should have a 12V output and terminal 2 should read 12 volts for approximately 5 seconds.
