Self-Diagnostic System: Notes
The Bendix Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is controlled and monitored by the Anti-Lock Brake Controller (CAB). In addition to controlling ABS system, CAB has several useful diagnostic capabilities.
First, fault codes are stored in memory until erased by a technician using the Chrysler's DRB-II (Diagnostic Readout Box-II), or erased automatically after 50 ignition (key) cycles.
Second, more than one fault code can be stored at a time. The number of fault codes stored is displayed by the DRB-II. The number of key cycles since the most recent fault was stored is also displayed.
Third, using DRB-II, most functions of the CAB and ABS system can be accessed by a technician for testing and diagnostic purposes.
