Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

  1. The use of Diagnostic Tester (DRB II) is preferred when adjusting thottle position sensor. If digital voltmeter is used, disconnect Idle Speed Control (ISC) motor electrical connector. Connect ISC Tester (7088) and retract ISC plunger until throttle lever contacts the idle stop screw and plunger does not contact the throttle lever.
  2. Turn ignition on. On the TPS connector, insert negative lead of voltmeter in terminal "D" and positive lead to terminal "A". Reading should be 5 volts. Insert voltmeter positive lead to terminal "B" and open throttle to wide open position. Reading should be 4.6-4.7 volts. To adjust, loosen TPS retaining screws and pivot sensor to obtain correct reading.
