Fan, Cooling: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the right tire and wheel assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the right lower splash shield.
  4. Remove the nut cooling fan ground wire from the left frame rail.
  5. Remove the three retainers securing the coolant hose to the cooling fan and position aside the coolant hose.
  6. Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING  .
  7. Remove the air cleaner resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .
  8. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .

  9. Remove the pressurized coolant bottle bolt (6) and position aside the pressurized coolant bottle (3).
  10. Detach the wire harness retainers from the pressurized coolant bottle.
  11. Remove the pressurized coolant bottle bracket bolts and the pressurized coolant bottle bracket.
  12. Remove the nuts and the Power Distribution Center (PDC) cover.
  13. Lift the PDC and turn over to access the back side.
  14. Disconnect the two cooling fan wire harness connectors from the PDC and position aside.

  15. Disconnect the upper radiator hose (3) from the radiator and position aside.
  16. Remove the grille. Refer to GRILLE, REMOVAL .

  17. Remove the side fasteners (1) and upper fasteners (2, 3) from the front fascia and reposition the front fascia.

  18. Remove the radiator support bolts (2).
  19. Remove the four front fasteners (3).
  20. Remove the top fasteners (1) and position aside the radiator crossmember.

  21. Release the retaining clips (2) and lifting upwards to release the cooling fan (3) from the mounts.
  22. Remove the cooling fan (3) from the top of the vehicle.

  23. If required, disconnect the cooling fan relays wire harness connector (1), the resistors (2) and the cooling fan motors (3).

  24. If required, separate the wire harness (1) from the cooling fan shroud.
