Removal And Installation: Installation

CAUTION:

Install camshaft position (CMP) sensor utilizing twisting motion. Make sure CMP sensor is fully seated. Do not drive CMP sensor into the bore with mounting screw. This may cause CMP sensor to be incorrectly seated causing a faulty signal or no signal at all.

  1. Lubricate the sensor O-ring with clean engine oil.

  2. Install the CMP sensor (2) with the stud bolt (3) tightened to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Connect and lock the electrical connector (1) to the CMP sensor (2).

  4. Install the heatshield (1) with the nut (2) tightened to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Install the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
NOTE:

The Cam/Crank Variation Relearn procedure must be performed using the scan tool anytime there has been a repair/replacement made to a powertrain system, for example: flywheel, valvetrain, camshaft and/or crankshaft sensors or components.
