Removal And Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the accessory drive belt guard and reposition the accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  5. Remove the three bolts (2) and the power steering pump pulley (1).

  6. Remove the nut (3) from the power steering pump support bracket.
  7. Remove the three bolts (2) form the power steering pump (1).

  8. Remove the nuts (1) from the power steering hose support brackets and reposition the power steering pump.

  9. Remove the heatshield (1) from the mounting stud.

  10. Unlock and disconnect the electrical connector (1).
  11. Remove the nut (3) and ignition capacitor (2) from the front of the cylinder head.
