Rear Suspension: Spring(S): Installation

1. Place the leaf spring (4) on top of the axle.

2. Raise the jack guiding the leaf springs into the mounted position. Continue to raise the jack until the leaf spring mounting bolts (2, 8) can be installed.
3. Install the rear bolt and nut (2, 3). Do not tighten at this time.
4. Install the front bolt and nut (8, 7). Do not tighten at this time.

5. Install the spring plate (1) and U-bolts (5).
6. Install the washers (3) and nuts (2). Tighten the nuts to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

7. Install the lower shock bolt and nut (2). Do not tighten at this time.
8. Remove the jack from under the axle.
9. Install the tire and wheel assembly Install and tighten wheel mounting bolts to the proper torque specification. Refer to INSTALLATION or WHEELS, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
10. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
11. Position the vehicle on an alignment rack/drive-on lift. Raise the lift as necessary to access the rear suspension while keeping the vehicle at curb (riding) height.
12. Check for proper vehicle curb height. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

13. Tighten the shock absorber lower mounting bolt nut (2) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

14. Tighten the leaf spring nuts (3, 7) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
