Installation 3.6L Gasoline Engine

NOTE:

Before installing power steering pressure hose on power steering pump, replace O-ring on end of power steering pressure hose. Lubricate O-ring using clean power steering fluid.

  1. Install power steering pump (2) onto its mounting bracket (5).
  2. Install the three power steering pump mounting bolts and spacers and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  3. Install power steering pump pressure fitting (4) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Slide fluid supply hose onto pump (3) fitting and install clamp securing it in place.
  5. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to PULLEY, POWER STEERING PUMP, INSTALLATION .
  6. Lower vehicle.
  7. Connect negative (-) battery cable on negative battery post.
  8. Fill and bleed power steering system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  9. Inspect for leaks.
