Radiator, Engine Cooling: Removal: 6.2L
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the push pin connectors that retain the battery cable and hold the Antilock Brake System (ABS) Module cover down.
- Remove the ABS module cover.
- Disconnect the cooling fan wire harness connector (1).
- Remove the air cleaner housing cover retaining screws (3).
- Loosen the clamp (1) and rotate the air inlet assembly up and out of the way for access.
- Remove the cooling fan to radiator mounting bolts (1).
- Lift the fan assembly (1) to release the lower fan shroud retainers (2). Move the cooling fan up and out of the way and secure it to the thermostat housing.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove both front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, ENGINE, REMOVAL .
- Remove the front fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, REMOVAL .
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the upper radiator hose. DISCARD
the torque limiting head clamp. A NEW
torque limiting head clamp must be used.
- Disengage the push pin (1) securing the coolant tubes to the Power Distribution Center (PDC) mounting bracket.
- Disconnect the wire harness connector (3) from the ambient temperature sensor (2).
- Remove the upper radiator closeout panels.CAUTION:
Bolts are installed with threadlocker. Use hand tools to remove the upper radiator mounting bolts.
- Remove the four mounting bolts (2) that secure the A/C condenser and the Low Temperature Radiator (LTR) to the radiator. Secure the A/C condenser and LTR as an assembly to prevent stress on the lines and hoses.
- Remove the push pins from the lower radiator support to the LTR system tube. Use tie straps to secure the tubes against the front cradle for clearance of the radiator.
- Remove the lower radiator closeout panels by removing the push in fasteners.
- Remove the lower radiator hose.
- Remove the four lower radiator support to frame rail mounting bolts (1).
- Remove the lower radiator support bracket from the radiator (2).NOTE:
Use extreme care when removing and installing the radiator not to damage the fins with the tight clearance area.
- Remove the radiator from the bottom of the vehicle.
- Transfer all necessary components from the old radiator to the new radiator.
