1 - BOLT (6)
2 - PUMP BODY
3 - REACTION SHAFT SUPPORT
NOTE:
When disassembling the transaxle it is necessary to inspect the oil pump for wear and damage.
- Remove the reaction shaft support-to-pump body fasteners (1).
1 - PUMP BODY 2 - PUMP GEARS 3 - REACTION SHAFT SUPPORT - Remove reaction shaft support (3) from pump body (1).
1 - PUMP BODY 2 - OUTER GEAR 3 - INNER GEAR 4 - REACTION SHAFT SUPPORT 5 - SEAL RINGS (4) 6 - REACTION SHAFT 7 - CRESCENT NOTE:There are two dimples on the side of the pump gears these must face up upon reassembly.
- Remove the pump gears (2, 3) and check for wear and damage on pump body (1) and gears.
1 - FEELER GAUGE 2 - OUTER GEAR 3 - PUMP BODY - Re-install the gears (2) and check clearances.
- Measure the clearance between the outer gear (2) and the pump pocket using a feeler gauge (1). Clearance should be 0.065 - 0.110 mm (0.0026 - 0.0043 in.).
1 - FEELER GAUGE 2 - OUTER GEAR 3 - CRESCENT 4 - INNER GEAR - Measure clearance between outer gear (2) and crescent (3) using a feeler gauge (1). Clearance should be 0.080 - 0.145 mm (0.0032 - 0.0057 in.).
1 - FEELER GAUGE 2 - OUTER GEAR 3 - CRESCENT 4 - INNER GEAR - Measure clearance between inner gear (4) and crescent (3) using a feeler gauge (1). Clearance should be 0.122 - 0.186 mm (0.0048 - 0.0073 in.).
- Position an appropriate piece of Plastigage® across both pump gears.
- Align the Plastigage® to a flat area on the reaction shaft support housing.
- Install the reaction shaft to the pump housing. Tighten the fasteners to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.).
- Remove fasteners and carefully separate the housings. Measure the Plastigage following the instructions supplied.
- The clearance should be 0.020-0.051 mm (0.0008-0.002 in.). If not replace the oil pump assembly.
