Cable, Shift: Removal

Disconnect the negative cable at the battery.
Remove the center instrument panel cupholder assembly, Refer to CUPHOLDER, INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVAL .
Remove the cupholder support bracket.

Disconnect shifter (1) cable at the shifter.
NOTE:
Push the release tab to disconnect at the cable end to disconnect without damaging the shifter.

Separate the shifter cable assembly (1) from the shifter housing (2) by pressing on the release lever (3) while sliding cable assembly from housing.

Disconnect the gearshift cable (3) from the transaxle manual valve lever.
Disconnect the gearshift cable (1) from the bracket at the transmission.

From inside the vehicle, remove the four fasteners (2) retaining the grommet (1) to the bulkhead.
Pull the gearshift cable (3) through the bulkhead into the passenger compartment.
