Fuel Delivery, Diesel: Warning
Before working on the common rail high pressure fuel system, a minimum wait time of 30 seconds after engine shut-down is mandatory.
Any work at the common rail high pressure fuel system (rail, function-block, pressure regulator valve, pressure limiter valve, rail pressure sensor, pipe connection, high pressure pipes (pump/rail or /function-block, function block/rail, rail/injectors) is not permitted when the engine is running.
Cutting fuel jets; injury or risk of eyes and skin. When opening the high pressure fuel system, fuel jets can ignite on a hot engine surface.
High-pressure lines deliver diesel fuel under extreme pressure from the injection pump to the fuel injectors. This may be as high as 2000 bar (29, 008 psi). Use extreme caution when inspecting for high-pressure fuel leaks. Fuel under this amount of pressure can penetrate skin causing personal injury or death. Inspect for high-pressure fuel leaks with a sheet of cardboard. Wear safety goggles and adequate protective clothing when servicing fuel system.
