Tank, Fuel: Removal

  1. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to DRAINING FUEL TANK .
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  3. Loosen fasteners (1, 2) and remove the floor cover (3).

  4. Remove bolts (2) the fuel pump access cover (1).

  5. Disconnect fuel pump module wire harness connector (4).
  6. Disconnect fuel line quick connect fittings (1) and (3). Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT .
  7. Disconnect the fuel vent line (2) quick connect fitting. Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT .
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  9. Remove the fasteners (2) and the fill tube shield (1).

  10. Loosen hose clamp (3) and remove fuel fill hose (2) from fuel tank (1).

  11. Remove nuts (2) and the fuel tank shield (1).

    NOTE:

    The right fuel tank strap also secures the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank.

  12. Position a transmission jack under the tank (2).
  13. Remove the right gas/DEF tank strap bolt (4).
  14. Remove and the left fuel tank strap bolts (1).
  15. Lower the fuel tank.
