Sensor, Water In Fuel: Description
The Water-In-Fuel (WIF) sensor (4) is located on the fuel filter/water separator housing on the left side of the vehicle next to the power brake booster and is not a serviceable item.
When the WIF sensor detects water in the fuel filter/water separator, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) commands the "Generic Warning Light" will illuminate and the specific message, "Service Fuel Filter" will appear in the EVIC and a warning chime sounds.
