Launch Control Feature Inoperative

OVERVIEW

This bulletin involves performing a Body Control Module (BCM) Restore Vehicle Configuration.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: NAFTA and EMEA.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before December 08, 2017 (MDH 1208XX) equipped Dodge Performance Page (Sales Code JAZ) with 3.6L V6 24V VVT Engine (Sales Code ERB) or 5.7L V8 Hemi VVT Engine (Sales Codes EZC).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION

The customer may notice that the launch control feature is inoperative. The minimum RPM value will be set to an incorrect value (1000 RPM) and cannot be changed using the scroll bar, see (Fig. 1)  . The scroll bar will move up and down, but the RPM values will not change.

DIAGNOSIS

Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all related systems are functioning as designed. If Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) or symptom conditions, other than the ones listed above are present, record the issues on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.

If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

NOTE: Install a battery charger to ensure battery voltage does not drop below 13.2 volts. Do not allow the charging voltage to climb above 13.5 volts during the flash process.
  1. Using wiTECH, re-configure the vehicle. This routine is available under the 'Diagnostic Procedures' tab found on the home page of wiTECH. Select "Restore Vehicle Configuration".
  2. Using wiTECH, perform a hard reset on the radio. This routine can be found in "Guided Diagnostic", select "ECU Reset" and then select "Radio". This routine must be performed twice.
  3. Using wiTECH, clear any DTCs which may have been set during the re-configuration.
