Converter, Catalytic: Installation
1 - EXHAUST MANIFOLD
2 - V-BAND CLAMP
3 - CATALYTIC CONVERTER
4 - "A" PILLAR SUPPORT ISOLATOR
5 - BRACKET
6 - BOLT(S)
7 - DOWNSTREAM OXYGEN SENSOR
NOTE:
This procedure covers installation of either the right OR left catalytic converter. Install the appropriate parts for the side that is being worked on.
- Position catalytic converter to mounting position.
- Connect resonator to converter. Do not tighten resonator band clamp at this time to permit alignment of all parts.
- Loosely install a NEW V-Band clamp at exhaust manifold to converter pipe connection.
- Loosely install "A" and "B" pillar support isolators.
1 - EXHAUST MANIFOLD 2 - UPSTREAM OXYGEN SENSOR 3 - DOWNSTREAM OXYGEN SENSOR CONNECTOR 4 - BODY WIRING 5 - UPSTREAM OXYGEN SENSOR CONNECTOR 6 - TIE WRAP CLIP 7 - DOWNSTREAM OXYGEN SENSOR 8 - RIGHT INNER FRAME RAIL - Tighten catalytic converter V-Band clamp to 11 N.m (100 in. lbs.).
- Starting from the front of exhaust system, align each component to maintain position and proper clearance with body parts.
- Tighten "A" and "B" pillar support isolators to 28 N.m (250 in. lbs.).
- Install new resonator band clamp. Tighten resonator band clamp to 63 N.m (46 ft. lbs.).
- Connect downstream oxygen sensor connector.
- Install sill panel. Refer to PANEL, TRIM SILL, INSTALLATION .
- Lower vehicle.
- Start the engine and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
- Check the exhaust system for contact with the body panels. Make the necessary adjustments, if needed.
