Radiator, Engine Cooling: Removal: 6.2L

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove two push pin connectors that retain the battery cable and hold down the Antilock Brake System (ABS) Module cover.
  3. Remove the ABS module cover.

  4. Disconnect the cooling fan wire harness connector (1).

  5. Remove the three air cleaner housing cover retaining screws (3).
  6. Loosen the clamp (1) and rotate the air inlet assembly up and out of the way for access.

  7. Remove the two cooling fan to radiator mounting bolts (1).

  8. Lift the fan assembly (1) to release the lower fan shroud retainers (2) and secure the cooling fan up and out of the way to the thermostat housing.
  9. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  10. Remove both front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to REMOVAL .
  11. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL .
  12. Remove the front fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, REMOVAL .
  13. Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING ENGINE RADIATOR .
  14. Remove the upper radiator hose. Discard the torque limiting head clamp a NEW  torque limiting head clamp must be used.

  15. Disengage the push pin (1) securing the coolant tubes to the Power Distribution Center (PDC) mounting bracket.

  16. Disconnect the wire harness connector (3) from the ambient temperature sensor (2).
  17. Remove the upper radiator close out panels.

    CAUTION:

    Bolts are installed with threadlocker. Use hand tools to remove the upper radiator mounting bolts.

  18. Remove the four mounting bolts (2) that's secure the A/C condenser and the Low Temperature Radiator (LTR) to the radiator. Secure the A/C condenser and LTR as an assembly to prevent stress on the lines/hoses.

  19. Remove the two push pins from the lower radiator support to the LTR system tube. Use tie straps to secure the tubes against the front cradle for clearance of the radiator.
  20. Remove the lower radiator closeout panels by removing the push in fasteners.
  21. Remove the lower radiator hose.

  22. Remove the four lower radiator support to frame rail mounting bolts (1).
  23. Remove the lower radiator support bracket from the radiator (2).
    NOTE:

    Use extreme care when removing and installing the radiator not to damage the fins with the tight clearance area.

  24. Remove the radiator from the bottom of the vehicle.
  25. Transfer all necessary components from the old radiator to the new radiator.
