Stabilizer Bar, Front: Removal

NOTE:

Review all Warnings and Cautions. Refer to WARNING .

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove both front wheel and tire assemblies. Refer to REMOVAL .

    1 - UPPER NUT
    2 - LOWER NUT
    3 - LOWER CONTROL ARM
    4 - LINK
    5 - STABILIZER BAR
  3. Remove upper nuts (1) attaching stabilizer bar links (4) to each end of stabilizer bar (5).
    CAUTION:

    Use only Remover, Special Tool MB991113, to remove link from stabilizer bar. Use of a pickle fork or other alternate tool will damage seal and ball joint on link.

  4. Separate stabilizer bar (1) from each link (3) using Remover (2), Special Tool (special tool #MB991113, Remover, Tie Rod End).

    3 - STABILIZER BAR
  5. Remove two bolts attaching each stabilizer bar bushing retainer (2) to frame rails.
  6. Remove stabilizer bar (3) from vehicle out through either left or right inner wheel housing.
  7. To remove bushings:
    1. Slide retainers off bushings.
    2. Remove each bushing from stabilizer bar by opening slit in bushing and peeling it off bar.
