Clutch System: Flywheel: Installation
Verify that the crankshaft flange and is smooth and free of burrs or metallic debris. If necessary, use a fine file and crocus cloth to smooth the surface of the crankshaft flange. Clean the crankshaft flange with a suitable solvent and blow it dry with regulated shop air. Verify that the threaded holes are in good condition and will not damage the threads on the new bolt during installation. If necessary, use a tap covered with petroleum jelly to chase the threads clean.
- Apply Mopar® Lock AND Seal or equivalent to new flywheel bolts.
- Place flywheel (1) in position on the engine crankshaft flange.
- Place the steel washer plate (2) in position on the flywheel hub.
- Install the bolts to hold the flywheel to the crankshaft flange.
- Tighten the bolts in the crossing pattern (1 through 8) as illustrated to specification. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the clutch. Refer to DISC, CLUTCH, INSTALLATION .
- Install the bellhousing and transmission.
