Radiator, Engine Cooling: Removal: Diesel

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. If equipped, remove the belly pan from the vehicle.
  4. Drain the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  5. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to PLUMBING, FRONT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  6. Remove the right inner splash shield.
  7. Remove the left inner splash shield.
  8. If equipped, disconnect the fog lamp connectors from the fascia.
  9. Remove the lower support to front fascia pushpins.
  10. Remove the lower radiator hose.
  11. Remove the charge air cooler hoses.
  12. Remove support and lower the vehicle.
  13. Remove the front fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, REMOVAL .
  14. Remove the upper radiator hose.
  15. Remove the coolant bypass hose.
  16. Remove radiator upper crossmember support. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, RADIATOR, REMOVAL .
  17. Remove the radiator fan module. Refer to FAN, COOLING, REMOVAL .
  18. Remove the A/C lines at the condenser. Refer to LINE, A/C DISCHARGE, REMOVAL , LINE, A/C LIQUID, REMOVAL and LINE, A/C SUCTION, REMOVAL .
  19. Disconnect the transmission oil cooling lines at the cooler.
  20. Remove the cooling module (radiator, A/C condenser and charge air cooler) as an assembly. Care should be taken not to damage radiator cooling fins or water tubes during removal. 
  21. Remove the right side A/C condenser line bracket from the radiator.
  22. Separate the A/C condenser from the radiator by depressing the clips.
  23. Separate the charge air cooler from the radiator by depressing the clips.
