Steering System: Pump: Installation: Installation

  1. Position power steering pump (2) on engine.
  2. Install three power steering pump mounting bolts (1). Tighten mounting bolts to 31 N.m (23 ft. lbs.).

  3. Install supply hose (2) on fitting of power steering pump (1). Install hose clamp on return hose past upset bead on pump fitting.

    NOTE:

    The pressure hose quick-connect is a one-time use component and must be replaced anytime the pressure hose is disconnected at the power steering pump. It cannot be removed from the pressure hose once installed.

  4. Install power steering pressure hose (2) and quick-connect. Refer to HOSE, POWER STEERING, PRESSURE, INSTALLATION , HOSE, POWER STEERING, RETURN, COOLER TO RESERVOIR, INSTALLATION , HOSE, POWER STEERING, RETURN, GEAR TO COOLER, INSTALLATION  and HOSE, POWER STEERING, SUPPLY, INSTALLATION .
  5. Install accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, INSTALLATION .
  6. Install air cleaner. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  7. Connect the battery negative (-) cable to battery negative battery terminal.
  8. Fill and bleed power steering system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  9. Check for leaks.
