2.8L Diesel

  1. Position power steering pump (2) on engine.
  2. Using a floor jack, lift the right side of the engine only high enough to install the pump mounting bolts in the next step.
  3. Install three power steering pump mounting bolts (1) using openings in pulley. Tighten pump mounting bolts to 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.).

  4. Install the engine mount bracket fasteners (1) and (4) and tighten to 54 N.m (40 ft. lbs.).
  5. Install accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, INSTALLATION .

    NOTE:

    Before installing power steering pressure hose on power steering pump, replace O-ring on end of power steering pressure hose. Lubricate O-ring using clean power steering fluid.

  6. Install pressure hose (1) into pump (2) fitting. Thread pressure hose tube nut into pump and tighten to 31 N.m (23 ft. lbs.).

  7. Slide fluid supply hose (3) onto pump (4) fitting and install clamp securing it in place.
  8. Connect negative (-) battery cable on negative battery post.
  9. Fill and bleed power steering system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  10. Inspect for leaks.
